The SGSC employees receive the benefit of 13 paid holidays per calendar year. Each year's holiday schedule is established by Human Resources with campus input. SGSC will be closed for business in observance of the holidays, although minimal staff/services will be in certain departments.
There are 13 official paid holidays for all regular employees. A terminating employee shall not be paid for any official holidays occurring after his or her last working day. Temporary employees and regular employees working less than half time will not be paid for holidays.
Observance of Religious Holidays
All employees and students are responsible for negotiating their needs around religious practices with their supervisor or professor. Employees may use vacation time for religious holidays and questions may be referred to Human Resources.
Regular employees are compensated for these holidays provided that they are in a paid status on the business days immediately before and after the holiday. Full time employees are paid holiday time for an 8 hour work day. Compensation for part time employees is calculated at the relative percentage of their full time equivalency. (Example – an employee who works 30 hours per week and is therefore at a 75% FTE will be paid holiday time for 6.5 hours).
