The LPN-RN Bridge program is for LPN graduates who have completed their technical/vocational college degree and are currently licensed in Georgia to practice as an LPN. This pathway allows students to complete the nursing courses and earn their ASN with three semesters of nursing courses. In addition to the nursing courses students must complete the general education courses. A total of 27 general education hours are required before starting the LPN Bridge program including BIOL 2210K, BIOL 2211K, and PSYC 1101. Completion of all general education courses is strongly advised before enrolling in Nursing 1104 LPN-RN Career Mobility.

The ASN program is designed for individuals who want to earn an Associate of Science in Nursing and take the NCLEX-RN to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

The RN-BSN program is designed for graduates of Associate of Science in Nursing degree programs who wish to complete additional courses in order to earn the Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree.

1. Must be fully accepted to SGSC and complete the SGSC School of Nursing admission requirements.

2. Submit a completed SGSC School of Nursing Application Packet

   LPN-RN Bridge Program: October 1 – January 15 for early decision and May 15 for late decision
   ASN (Generic) Program: October 1 – February 15 for early decision and May 15 for late decision
   RN-BSN: October 1 – April 15 for early decision and May 15 for late decision

3. LPN-RN and ASN applicants must self-register and take the SGSC HESI A2 Exam at a Prometric Testing Center (Department ID: 199898) and earn a minimum score 75 on each identified content of the Admission Assessment (A2). Content Information: math, reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, grammar, critical thinking, anatomy and physiology. Each student has two opportunities to pass the HESI A2 examination during the application period. HESI A2 scores are not accepted from other school.

4. Submit Official Sealed College Transcripts from all educational institutions to SGSC Admissions.

5. Have an earned overall cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher for the ASN program and a GPA of 2.50 for the RN-BSN program

6. Exit all credit level learning support courses.

Students must be in good standing with their previous institution and meet the current SGSC and the School of Nursing admission requirements. However, students who make less than a grade of “C” in two Biology classes are ineligible to make application to the nursing program. Students who have a Transcript grade of less than a “C” in any NURSING course are also ineligible for the SON ASN program.

HESI A2 Assessment Testing

ASN and LPN-RN Applicants Only

This score reflects a necessary reading, science, and math knowledge foundation to be successful in the nursing program. 
To be considered for admission to the ASN program, the exam may be taken a maximum of 2 times within the yearly application cycle. The student has two opportunities to score 75 or higher on each section. When considering applicants for admission to the ASN program, the highest score in each category will be utilized.  HESI A2 exam scores from other schools will not be accepted.

Admission Assessment (A2) Content Information: math, reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, grammar, critical thinking, anatomy and physiology.

When you will take the HESI (A2) exam: You will register and take the exam only during each years application cycle. The application cycle for the HESI A2 Exam begins on October 1st and ends on the noted application deadline.
