This option is designed so that students, faculty, and staff can report suspicious activity and crimes while remaining anonymous. Title IX and Sexual Misconduct reports can be made anonymously. Incidents may be reported without disclosing one's name or identifying the Respondent ( person who is alleged to have engaged in the misconduct), or by requesting no action be taken. However, this may limit the instiution's ability to respond to the anonymous report.
If you have witnessed a crime, or if you know of a crime that was committed or will be committed, simply fill out and submit the form. A member of South Georgia State College will investigate the information provided. You will not be contacted unless you provide your contact information.
Responsible Employees: Responsible employees must disclose all information shared with them and are not able to submit anonymous reports. Employees who learn that someone has experienced sexual misconduct MUST report all infomation known to them to the Title IX Coordinator.
This form is intended to assist Title IX coordinators at SGSC, and is not intended for crimes in progress or for emergencies. Dial 911 for those emergencies.
If you are someone you know has been a victim of sexual misconduct, you may also report the incident to the Campus Police Department.
RESPONSIBLE EMPLOYEES
Responsible Employees are those employees who must promptly and fully report complaints of or information regarding sexual misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator. Responsible Employees include any administrator, supervisor, faculty member, or other person in a position of authority who is not a Confidential Employee or Privileged Employee. For the purpose of the Sexual Misconduct Policy, student employees who serve in a supervisory or managerial role are in a position of authority ( Residential Assistants).
Responsible Employees are not required to report information disclosed at public awareness events (e.g., "Take Back the Night", Candle Vigils, Protests, "Survivor Speaks- Outs" or other public forums in which students may openly disclose incidents of prohibited conduct).
CONFIDENTIALITY VS. PRIVACY
Confidentiality is limited to someone who, by law can keep information confidential (health services and counseling centers). SGSC does not have a health services department nor a counseling center on campus, therefore, there is no designated department or employee that meets the definition of a confidential employee but a mandatory reporter.
Please note: Exceptions to confidentiality exist where the conduct involves suspected abuse or a minor (in the state of Georgia, under the age of 18 is consider a minor) or otherwise provided by law, such as imminent threat of serious harm.
Privacy means that information related to a sex-based discrimination complaint will be shared with a limitied number of recipient employees who "need to know" in order to provide supportive measures or assist win the assessment, investigation, and resolution of a sex discrimination. Information communicated through the Title IX and Sexual Misconduct reporting process will be kept private.
AMNESTY FROM DRUGS AND ALCOHOL USE
Individuals are encouraged to come forward and to report Sexual Misconduct even if they were under the influence at the time of the incident. Information reported by a student during an investigation concering the consumption of drugs or alcohol will not be used against the particualr student in a disciplinary procedding or voluntarily reported to law enforcement; however, students may be provided with resources on drug and alcohol counseling and/or education, as appropriate. Nevertheless, these students may be required to meet with staff members in regards to the incident and my be required to participte in appropirate educational program(s). The required particiaption in an educational program under this amnesty procedure will not be considered a sanction.
Nothing in this amnesty provision shall prevent an instituion staff member who is otherwise obligated by law (the Clery Act) to report information or statistical data as required.
