Alumni and Friends

Giving Options

Friends of South Georgia State College can support its educational, cultural and community programs in many ways. The SGSC Foundation and the James M. Dye Foundation gratefully accept gifts and contributions that can be allocated across a wide variety of interests. As the donor desires, the gift may be passed on immediately to benefit students or an area of the College, or it may be placed in an endowment to work in perpetuity for the purpose the donor desires.

Over 80% of students at SGSC require financial assistance to attend college, so establishing a scholarship is one of the most beneficial ways to support students. Donors may choose from a one-time award or an endowed fund which will remain in perpetuity. In addition, donors may give over several years and select from a variety of criteria when creating a scholarship.

Donors often want to establish a named endowment in honor of their family or place of business. Regular endowments may be started with a first gift of $500. Donors may make annual contributions until the designated endowment level is complete. As a part of the personalized endowment process, donors may direct the annual proceeds to a need of the College that best fits their own personal interest.

Memorial Gifts
Relatives and friends often remember loved ones with contributions to memorial funds. This is particularly appropriate for those who have been associated with the College, its alumni association or its foundation.

Commemorative Gifts
A special gift may be made to the foundation to commemorate a special event in one's life or the life of another. This act of giving is an extremely thoughtful way of noting a special occasion and remembering the needs of the College.

All of the foundation's special events and campaigns provide individual and corporate sponsorship opportunities. Each sponsorship offers a variety of ways underwriters and donors can be recognized.

Estate gifts provide an excellent opportunity for people to remember the College. Donors can take advantage of various estate-planning opportunities ranging from bequests to life-income gifts.

Annual gifts - unrestricted gifts, in particular - are the backbone of public and private colleges.  Your unrestricted gift helps sustain the departments, programs, and operations of South Georgia State College. A "yes" to the annual fund letter is one of the easiest ways to support SGSC.
