Posted on Apr 15, 2015

The South Georgia State College Theatre Company is proud to present its spring production of Barefoot in the Park, a comedy by Neil Simon.

Barefoot in the Park will be presented on the Douglas Campus of SGSC in Peterson Hall’s McGouirk Auditorium April 23, 24, and 25, at 6:30 pm. The show is being presented free of charge and is open to all who wish to share an enjoyable evening of live comedic theatre with the cast.

Neil Simon’s comedy focuses on a newlywed couple, Corie and Paul Bratter, who have recently moved into a tiny New York apartment after their honeymoon. They struggle to find the balance between work, love, life, and each other’s personalities, as Corie is a free spirit and Paul is a bit uptight. Corie tries to set up her stoic mother Ethel with the eccentric Velasco, their upstairs neighbor. A disastrous blind date between the two has Corie and Paul contemplating divorce before their marriage license even arrives.

Corie Bratter is played by Hope Mancil, Paul Bratter is played by Tyler Stapleton, Ethel is played by Kelsey Graves, Velasco is played by Zach Hunkapiller, the Telephone Repair Man is played by Chas Pridgen, and the Delivery Man is played by Logan Carpenter, who is also the student director.
Barefoot in the Park is directed by Anna Braswell. It runs about two hours with intermission, and is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
