SGSC Student Spotlight

Emma is pursuing a degree in Nursing from  SGSC, with plans to continue her schooling and become a Nurse Practitioner. She has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since 2015, and her dream is to open up a diabetes clinic in her hometown of Douglas, GA. She has gained a lot of knowledge by living with diabetes, and she wants to help others, especially kids, like her to be able to live their best life despite T1D.

She is the President of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s Kappa Sigma chapter and Vice President of the Environmental Awareness Club. She also serves as an Ambassador for the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce. She made the President’s List for the Fall 2023 semester for earning an average of 4.0 on 12 or more semester hours.

She graduated from Coffee High School with Honors, and she was ranked in the top 20 of her class. During high school, she participated in FCCLA and competed in STAR Events throughout high school. During her junior year, she participated in the STEAM Internship Program at Chick-fil-A Douglas, where she continues to work, assisting with community events and serving with a smile and a “My Pleasure.”

In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her friends and family. She also serves her community at the Coffee County Food Bank regularly.

SGSC Student Spotlight

Trinity is pursuing a degree in SGSC’s Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences program. She is Vice President of Pre-Med Club, senator of SGSC's Student Government Association, Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society's Kappa Sigma chapter and member of the Outdoors Club. She has been awarded the Junior and Senior Academic Award along with the OPTIMA-Chemistry Award for her excellence in class and for obtaining a 4.0 GPA. She recently was  honored with the 2023 Academic Recognition Day Award by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

After graduating from SGSC, she plans to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine which has been her dream job since she was a little girl. This past summer, she worked part-time at a veterinary clinic and participated in a summer internship program through the Okefenokee Swamp Park. In her free time, she loves to read and spend time with her family. She also coaches kids' basketball, soccer, and t-ball throughout the year.
