Beautiful historic location in Southeast Georgia. Multi-campus institution with 15 counties in its service area. Class sizes small enough to make you feel like you belong to a community of learners. Campuses large enough to give you a true college experience. This is South Georgia State College, an institution that has given residents in south Georgia a chance to further their education since the early 1900s.

History: South Georgia State College was created by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on January 8, 2013 from the consolidation of South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia and Waycross College in Waycross, Georgia.

Degrees: SGSC currently offers five bachelor's degrees - the Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences (BSBS), Management (BSM), Nursing (BSN), Early Childhood/Special Education (P-5) (ELE/SPED), and Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET).  Associate degrees are also offered in over 20 transfer pathways of study. Known as a state college within the University System of Georgia, the potential exists for SGSC to offer additional baccalaureate degrees in the future.

Enrollment: At SGSC, find yourself among a close-knit population of approximately 1,800 students, drawn from 11 other states, as well as 4 countries.

Housing: SGSC provides state of the art on-campus housing for students.  The Douglas campus’ residential facilities feature a private bedroom and semi-private bathroom. The suite style rooms come fully furnished complete with free Wi-Fi. On-campus dining and 24-hour security by campus police are benefits to being a part of SGSC’s residential community.

Athletics: The intercollegiate athletics program has a rich heritage in both Douglas and Waycross, drawing athletes from throughout Georgia as well as other states and countries.  The athletic program includes baseball, softball, women’s soccer and men’s basketball (Waycross campus).

Faculty: SGSC faculty are credentialed and meet SACSCOC requirements to teach in their respective field. There are no graduate assistants teaching classes at South Georgia State College. The faculty-to-student ratio is 19:1, which allows faculty to provide personal attention and support for each student as needed.

Campuses: The tree-lined Douglas campus features 190 landscaped acres and includes a blend of well-maintained classroom and residential space with open green areas suitable for student gatherings. The Waycross campus features 150 acres of wooded land and includes three academic buildings, two lakes, and a walking trail.
