Parking
Am I required to have a parking permit?
Students
Only SGSC Residential Students are required to have a parking permit. Parking permits will be distributed during move in. Should a permit be needed at a later date, one can be obtained at the Police Department from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. In order to obtain a parking decal, you must present your driver’s license or official state identification and your vehicle information. Once issued, the decal will be affixed to the exterior of the driver’s side back window on the bottom.
Decals are not transferable from one vehicle to another. Additional decals cost $10.00 each and must be paid at the Cashiers Office in Engram Hall. Present the receipt at the Police Department for the additional decal.
If, for any reason, you must drive another vehicle for a short period of time, you can obtain a Temporary Parking Permit from the Residence Life and Student Success Specialist in Tiger II. Temporary permits are available for limited amounts of time and need to be taped in the driver’s side back window so that they are visible.
Residential students should bring their driver’s license and vehicle/tag information so that the can receive a parking permit during check in. If you need a permit, stop by the Police Department. You will need your driver’s license and your vehicle and tag information.
Tiger I Occupants should park in the Tiger I/Richey lot. Tiger II occupants should park in the Tiger II/Shannon lot.
Faculty/Staff
Only employees parking in reserved Faculty/Staff perking are required to have a permit.
Employee parking permits can be obtained at the SGSC Police Department or by responding to emailed directions.
Visitors
Visitors to campus are not required to have a pass unless they are visitors to the residence halls. Any student that plans to host an overnight visitor must obtain a visitors parking pass from the Residence Life and Student Success Specialist. Post the Visitor’s pass in the front left windshield are of your vehicle.
How much does a parking permit cost?
The first permit is covered in the cost of tuition. Additional permits are $10.00 each which must be paid for at the Cashier's Office. Bring your receipt, vehicle information and a copy of your driver's license to the SGSC Police Department in order to receive your second decal.
Where do I put the permit on my car?
Permits should be placed on the rear window on the bottom left exterior. For soft-tops, the decal should be placed on the driver’s side rear bumper.
Parking Violations
The penalties for violating parking rules and regulations include fines, student conduct referrals, vehicle "boots", and loss of campus driving privileges. Citations issued for repeat offenses result in an increase of fines for additional citations. Those parking on campus are responsible for any fines or fees associated with parking contrary to the Parking and Traffic rules.
Before the parking boot will be removed all parking fines and a $50.00 boot removal fee must be paid in full.

Payment for Parking Violations
All parking citations issued on campus are paid at the Cashier’s Office. Payments are not accepted at any other location. Additionally, you can pay fines online through Touch Net.
Fines not paid will result in a hold being placed on your Banner Account
Appeals
If you feel that you are wrongly cited, you have 7 days to FILE AN APPEAL in writing. An appeal is not valid if older than seven days. The fine will be paid regardless of appeal and will be refunded upon presentation of a receipt should the appeal be upheld. You are not entitled to a warning for your first offense.
Citations will be voided only in the case of error by the issuing officer.
Referral to Student Conduct
Once a student receives four parking violations, he or she is referred to student conduct for repeat offending. The Student Conduct Board will notify you when the board has scheduled your hearing and of the results of the hearing. Your attendance at the student conduct hearing is not mandatory.
