Tea Is Served In Literature Class At SGSC

Students in Elaine Stephens’s British Literature Class on South Georgia State College’s Waycross Campus recently experienced a British-style tea in conjunction with their study of Oscar Wilde’s play “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The students volunteered to bring the specific foods mentioned in the play, including cucumber sandwiches, and Stephens brought hot tea with sugar cubes. “The Importance of Being Earnest” was first published in 1895 and was adapted as a screenplay in 1952 and 2002.
