South Georgia State College Swim Teams Compete at Thomas University

The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Hawks swim teams traveled to Thomasville, Ga., on Saturday, October 20, 2018, to compete in a three-team meet against host school, Thomas University and visiting school, Point University. The Hawk’s men finished in first place by amassing a total of 168 points to Thomas University’s 68 points. Thomas University’s women edged the Hawk’s women by a close score of 119 points to 105 points. Point University finished in third place on both sides of the competition.
Leading the men was Jackson Bloom, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla. He took first in all three events by winning the 50 free and both the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Freshman Chris Mazier from Sidell, La., had two first places in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle races. Andrew Woith, a sophomore from Normal, Ill., won the 200 freestyle and fellow sophomore Orion Bopp from Jacksonville, Fla., won the 100 backstroke. Freshman Wyatt Dalton from Sewanee, Ga., won the 200 backstroke. Sophomore Jessilyn Graham from Savannah, Ga., had the lone top podium spot for the women by winning the 200 breaststroke.
The Hawks swimmers will be off the final weekend of October and will return to host their first home meet of the season on Nov. 3rd.
