Jordan Woodard, a South Georgia State College (SGSC) senior from Waycross, Georgia, was honored with the 2024 Academic Recognition Day Award by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
Jordan is pursuing a degree in SGSC’s Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has been awarded the SGSC Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Academic Achievement Award (4.0 GPA), the Excellence in Mathematics Award and the Excellence in Natural Science Award. He has also been on the President’s List during his time at SGSC.
“My immediate plans are to continue working toward my degree and gain engineering experience over the summer,” he says. “I have joined the Formula SAE team at the college as part of the MET program. We will be building the first formula car on campus which should be a great learning experience for us.”
"Jordan’s commitment to academic excellence has truly made an impression on the SGSC faculty and staff,” says SGSC Interim President Dr. Greg Tanner. “He consistently demonstrates his dedication to his educational pursuits and puts forth exceptional effort in reaching his goals. I extend my congratulations to Jordan on this well-deserved recognition."
Academic Recognition Day is a celebration of Georgia students’ academic achievement. The honorees receive a resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, along with a letter of commendation from USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue. Each student best represents the system’s highest scholastic ideals, as selected by their individual institutions. These students have a high GPA, strive for excellence and have the ability to share knowledge in various areas of expertise.
