Two students at South Georgia State College’s Waycross Campus have been awarded $250 scholarships from the Waycross Rotary Club. Jerri-Ann McDaniel of Baxley and Shawnda McDaniel of Waycross received their scholarships at a recent weekly meeting of the Club.
Jerri-Ann McDaniel is a 2014 graduate of Appling County High School and is pursuing her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. Her goal is to earn her master’s degree in nursing with a minor in Spanish and work in the field of pediatric oncology. She is a member of Zion Baptist Church in Baxley and has participated in various community activities including Special Olympics and judge for SGSC’s annual Science Fair.
Shawnda McDaniel is also pursuing an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. Her plan is to earn her bachelor’s degree with the goal of working in clinical management. She is a member of Hebardville Methodist Church and Indian Mound Baptist Church.
The Waycross Rotary Club scholarship is open to both traditional and non-traditional students on SGSC’s Waycross Campus. Students are nominated by Waycross Campus faculty and staff and must maintain a C average in the classroom and demonstrate a financial need. This year’s scholarships were presented by Scholarship Committee Director David Hitt and Club President Billy Gillis.
