SGSC Swim Earns National Rankings

Posted on Mar 12, 2015

The South Georgia State College Hawks Swim Team competed at the NJCAA National Swim Meet in Buffalo, NY, from March 4-7, and have once again earned national rankings. The Women’s Team finished in fourth place overall with 923.5 points, only 63.5 points behind third place but 407.5 points ahead of fifth, and the Men’s Team finished in fifth place with 798 points overall, only 62 points behind fourth place and 225 points ahead of sixth.

The 2015 women’s fourth and men’s fifth place wins come after last year’s teams each placed third, but the rankings are still impressive: SGSC has no divers to earn points, and both teams earned a considerable number of points, with many swimmers placing second and third in their respective events.

“The Hawks have worked hard this year, and I’m proud of their accomplishments. Their diligence in practicing has paid off as the Hawks are once again among the top teams in the nation. They deserve recognition for their persistence. Our swimmers had perhaps their best performance that SGSC has ever had, cutting times on 78 out of their 81 events. We also set seven new school records. I’m very proud of our team for their performance in Buffalo. We’re graduating a few sophomores this year and I look forward to learning what they’ll accomplish at the four-year competitive level. I’m also excited to see what our current freshman will accomplish for SGSC as we work toward next year,” said Head Swim Coach CM Jenkins.
