South Georgia State College’s William S. Smith Library and the Satilla Regional Library System dual-library internship allowed Michael Oden, a recent MLIS student of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, to learn practices and policies unique to each particular type of institution. The first internship of this kind for both libraries started in 2014 and continues to be a success as Oden graduated from his program with a strong foundation in his chosen profession and a better understanding of career options to both academic and public library positions.
