Posted on Dec 12, 2014

Jade Skinner (center), a pre-allied health major from Ware County, was recently recognized as South Georgia State College’s (SGSC) 2014-2015 recipient of the Harry Dixon Scholarship by the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation.  Skinner is a 2013 graduate of Ware County High School and plans to transfer to Georgia Southern University following her time at SGSC.  Her ultimate goal is to become a physical therapist.  The Harry Dixon Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation.  According to a spokesman for the organization, the scholarship is a “suitable and lasting tribute to (former) Rep. Dixon for his 38 years of service in the General Assembly, 26 of which as chairman of the Regulated Beverages Committee.”  Dixon passed away in March 2012.  Skinner was congratulated on her accomplishments and for receiving the scholarship by (L-R) Fred Kitchens, executive director of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation; Janice Skinner (mother); Joe Skinner (father); and K.C. Honeyman, assistant director for government relations for Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia.  SGSC is thankful to the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation for its continued support of SGSC’s students.
