SGSC Rolls To Win Over Handle It Prep Academy

Posted on Jan 02, 2016

The South Georgia State College Hawks scored the first 18 points Saturday afternoon on their way to a 114-83 win over Handle It Prep Academy.

“It was good to shake off the dust from the holidays and get back out on the floor, especially given that we’re about to really get into our conference schedule,” said Head Coach Cory Baldwin.

The Hawks (12-3, 0-2) had six players finish in double digits. Tyrone Sam led all scorers with 26 points and three rebounds. Russell Keyhea, Richard Love, Jr., and Dunavon Robinson each had 11 points, while Andre Elam and Zaquavion Smith finished with 10 points each.

SGSC’s defense held Handle It Prep Academy scoreless during the first six minutes of the game. The Hawks shot 54 percent from the field, 43 percent from the three-point line, and 71 percent from the free throw line.

The Hawks continue their current homestand Wednesday night, Jan. 6 in a conference matchup against South Georgia Tech. The game has been designated Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce Night, and the opening tip is set for 7 p.m.

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
