After finishing second in the region, Hawks Soccer has reached another milestone achievement: Abby Cuneo (Blackshear, GA) has been named to an Honorable Mention position on the 2014-2015 Soccer I All-American Team. This honor comes after an already impressive season by the Hawks: the second-place regional finish is a first in school history. In addition, many members of the Hawks team were honored by being named to the all-region team, and Abby was named Player of the Year for the Region.
As a freshman during the fall 2014 season, Abby helped her team achieve ten wins, with only five losses and one tie. This helped them reach the semi-finals, then the region finals, where they lost to Darton by only two goals. These achievements make SGSC soccer look very promising for next season, when Abby will compete as a sophomore for the Hawks.
Being named to the All-American Team is a privilege only thirty-three women in the nation can brag about, and SGSC’s Abby Cuneo is one of the elite. Of this achievement, head coach Ben Horner said, “We congratulate her for being named to the All-American Team. Not only is Abby a great athlete, she’s a great student and team member as well. The team is extremely proud to call her one of our own.”
SGSC is looking forward to see what all Abby can accomplish in her time here, both on and off the field.
