Posted on Mar 07, 2016

ROME, Ga. – South Georgia State College’s bid to advance to the GCAA Championship Game fell just short Friday afternoon as Central Georgia Tech escaped with an 88-85 win.

Tyrone Sam led the Hawks (25-7) with 33 points. Zaquavian Smith had 24 points in the loss. Andre Elam finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots.

“It’s always tough when the season ends. Even though it’s hard to talk about it, I’m extremely proud of this group of guys,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “Not many teams can lose their first two regular season conference games and then regroup to finish second in the conference. I want to thank our fans for continuing to grow in numbers and support.”

Baldwin said his sophomore players finished with a total of 52 wins over their two years at SGSC.
