Two South Georgia State College baseball players have signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at the four-year level.
Conner Durden, a 6’0” redshirt freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., has committed to the University of South Carolina Aiken. A left-handed hitting catcher, Durden transferred to SGSC from St. Johns River State College. He will be SGSC’s catcher this season and is projected to be a vital hitter in the middle of the Hawks’ lineup.
Cayden Hatcher, a 6’4” sophomore from Ponte Vedra, Fla., has committed to Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. Last season as a freshman, Hatcher finished with a 9-4 record and a 3.16 ERA. His win total tied the school record. Hatcher pitched a total of 76 innings last season with 63 strikeouts and only 17 walks. He will lead SGSC’s pitching staff for the spring 2016 season.
SGSC Head Coach Jeff Timothy said he looks forward to learning of Durden’s and Hatcher’s accomplishments when they begin play at the four-year level.
