SGSC Baseball Earns Two Wins on the Road

The SGSC Hawks baseball team made a road trip to play Thomas University JV and left with two strong wins, clinching the first game 16-3. They continued their impressive showing by securing the second game with a score of 11-2.
In game one, the Hawks captured the lead early by scoring two runs in the first inning, and they never looked back. SGSC scored five additional runs in the third inning and added five more in the fifth and four in the sixth. When the dust had settled, the Hawks had a total of seventeen hits in the game. Zack Williams and Steve Wells were leading hitters with three hits each. Garrison Hurd, KC Brown, Lincoln Hewett, and Spencer Speer followed close behind with two hits each. Chandler Rogers, Jake Bryan, and Chase Hinson each contributed one hit. Every SGSC batter that came up to the plate got at least one hit in the game. They were just as impressive in the field as they played the entire six innings without committing a single error. Jacob Milton earned the win for the Hawks. He tossed three innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, striking out two, and walking one.
The final game of the double-header ended on an equally high note. The Hawks jumped out to an early lead having scored nine runs by the bottom of the third inning. They earned an additional two runs in the top of the seventh. Thomas University JV was never able to catch up with only two runs being scored. Chandler Rogers went 4-5 in the game. Chase Hinson, Zach Rafuse, Randy Heller, Kaleb Hill, Jake Kennedy, and Steve Wells each added one hit. Mark Mixon earned the win for SGSC. He pitched three innings, giving up one run, two hits, and striking out four.
