No. 21 SGSC Falls To South Georgia Tech

WAYCROSS – The South Georgia Tech Jets took advantage of a strong three-point shooting performance in the second half Thursday night to defeat No. 21 South Georgia State College 91-76.

After playing the first half to a 39-39 tie, the Jets hit 10 three-pointers (66.7 percent) and led by as many as 20 points in the second half. The Hawks (12-2, 6-2) got as close as 10 points with less than two minutes left in the game.

Jalen King led the Hawks with 18 points and five rebounds. Nik Jiles had a complete game of 16 points, four rebounds, 11 assists and four steals. Bryce Brown finished with 15 points and five rebounds, and Jayce Moore had 13 points, three rebounds and three steals.

SGSC travels to Americus Saturday to play the Jets and will return home Wednesday, March 10 to play Central Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. in a rescheduled game that was postponed Feb. 13.

SGSC’s regular season schedule was shortened to 22 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free. Limited tickets will be sold for each home game in Douglas and Waycross to accommodate social distancing, and face coverings are required at each site. No game or season passes are available for the 2021 season.
