Morrison, White Named To Dye Foundation Board Of Trustees

The James M. Dye Foundation on South Georgia State College’s Waycross Campus recently welcomed two new members to its Board of Trustees. Tara Crosby Morrison and Rev. David L. White each will serve three-year terms as part of the Class of 2019.

“The Board is always looking for good people to help carry out the mission and purposes of the James M. Dye Foundation,” said Foundation President Huey Spearman. “Tara Crosby Morrison brings business and organizational skills to the Board, while Rev. David White brings amazing excitement and encouragement to all to do the work of the Foundation. Indeed, we are very fortunate to have them join the Board.”

Morrison is the president of Crosby Cadillac GMC Nissan in Waycross. She is the third member of the Crosby family to serve the Foundation as a trustee. Her father Terry served from 2000-2012, and her late grandfather T.G. served from 1985-2000, receiving trustee emeritus status at the conclusion of his service. Morrison received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Nova Southeastern University. She has two children, Jay and Will, and they reside in Waycross.

“My wish is to help grow the James M. Dye Foundation. Hopefully, with future growth, we will have the opportunity to serve even more future leaders of our community,” said Morrison.

White is the associate pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waycross and the treasurer of the Okefenokee Ministerial Fellowship. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. He and his wife Tina reside in Blackshear.

“As a trustee, I hope to continue a tradition of concerned benevolence for the students of SGSC,” White said.

In addition to welcoming new board members, the Dye Foundation celebrated another successful year of giving. For the period of July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016, the Foundation exceeded its fundraising goal for the third consecutive year. Seventy-four percent of the total funds raised was designated for student scholarships and grants.

“The Dye Foundation has made an impact on the lives of many students for 40 years,” said Executive Director Taylor Hereford. “That mission is still going strong, and the Foundation is positioned to continue transforming lives well into the future. I am privileged to be a small part of such an incredible organization.”

Originally incorporated in 1976 as the Waycross Junior College Foundation, the James M. Dye Foundation was renamed in 2013 for the founding president of Waycross College. The Foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance to students on SGSC’s Waycross Campus through scholarships and grants. The Foundation also supports the Waycross Campus and SGSC through programs and initiatives not funded by the State of Georgia.
