MOAA Chapter Supports Veterans Who Attend SGSC

The Okefenokee Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) recently presented a significant contribution to the MOAA Scholarship through the James M. Dye Foundation on South Georgia State College’s Waycross Campus.

Foundation Executive Director Taylor Hereford said he is excited about MOAA’s willingness to help veterans attend college.

“SGSC is extremely grateful to each and every veteran who has selflessly served this country,” said Hereford. “I am thankful for the continued partnership between MOAA and the Dye Foundation as both organizations seek to help local veterans fulfill their academic dreams through a college education.”

The MOAA Scholarship was established in 2009 and is available to those who have served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, U.S. Public Health Service, NOAA, the reserves, the Georgia National Guard and disabled veterans.

Family members of veterans and veterans’ survivors are also eligible to apply. Applicants must reside in one of the following counties: Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Pierce, or Ware.
