Jovante’ Spivey receives second Player of the Week honor

Posted on Dec 08, 2014

Jovante’ Spivey has been named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s (GCAA) Division I Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 25-Dec. 1.  This is the second Player of the Week honor Spivey has received this season.

Spivey, a 6’0” sophomore from Savannah, Ga., had 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists against TAAG Academy Nov. 25.

“I am honored to win this award again.  It makes me feel proud of all we have accomplished thus far as a team,” Spivey said.  “It also makes me want to work even harder and achieve more as a team and an individual.”

Head coach Cory Baldwin is proud of Spivey’s second honor and his efforts this season.

“Jovante’ continues to play well and do about everything we ask,” said Baldwin.  “He plays the point, the shooting guard, scores, passes, rebounds, defends, and leads.  He also keeps improving, which is the most important thing to me.”

The Hawks (10-1, 1-0) upset No. 23 Georgia Highlands in their conference opener Saturday afternoon and extended their current winning streak to five games.
