Hawks Winning Streak Reaches Ten Games With Sweep Of Chattahoochee Tech
Posted on Feb 01, 2016
The South Georgia State College Hawks extended their current winning streak to 10 games Saturday afternoon with an 84-70 win over #19 Chatthoochee Tech. SGSC (20-3, 7-2) defeated Chattahoochee Tech 83-72 Jan. 25 in Smyrna, Ga.
Tyrone Sam led the Hawks with 26 points and four rebounds. Zaquavian Smith had 22 points, four assists, and five blocks, while Dunavon Robinson finished with 15 points and five assists. Andre Elam rounded out the top scorers with 14 points and three blocks.
Head coach Cory Baldwin said offense was the key to victory, which is a departure from the typical script of defense having an influence in the outcome of a game.
“Rarely ever do I say our offense won the game, but that was the case tonight,” Baldwin said. “We shot 59 percent from the field, which was the deciding factor.”
The Hawks now hit the road for two games against Albany Tech and Atlanta Metro before returning home Feb. 13 to face East Georgia State. Tip for the Feb. 13 game is set for 4 p.m.
General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
