Hawks Soar in Mid-Season Meet

Posted on Dec 08, 2014

The South Georgia State College Swim Team participated in the SCAD Invitational Swim Meet this past weekend and ended the first half of the season with a very impressive performance. The Hawks had a great showing at the three-day-long meet and performed quite well.

As a team the Hawks had 90 individual swims and cut times in 75 of them, resulting in 83% top times for this season. They also had top times in 9 out of 10 relays during the meet. Both the Men and Women finished fourth out of eight four-year programs at the meet.

“It was very rewarding to see our swimmers cut as many times from the season as they did, especially having to swim events in both prelims and finals,” commented Coach CM Jenkins. “This meet is a great dress rehearsal for Nationals in March.”

Congrats to Megan Harding (Thomasville, GA) and Carolyn Ives (Carrollton, GA) for resetting their previous team records and to Ives who set new marks in the 100 breast and 50 and 100 free. Also congrats to three Men that had top-eight finishes: Ryan Davis (Ochlocknee, GA) placed 7th in the 200 fly, Austin Vines (Moultrie, GA) placed 8th in the 100 back, and Austin McCollough (Lafayette, LA) placed 8th in the 400 IM.
