Hawks Basketball Holds Off South Georgia Tech, Remains Atop GCAA Standings

Kyric Davis had a complete game of 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocked shots as the South Georgia State College Hawks held on to defeat the South Georgia Tech Jets 72-66 Saturday afternoon.
The win keeps SGSC (17-6, 8-1) in first place in the GCAA standings with seven regular season games remaining.
Lay Davis had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Yannis Woods with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Hawks held the Jets to 44 percent shooting from the field. South Georgia Tech hit only seven three-pointers (29 percent) and made nine free throws (43 percent). SGSC a total of forced 30 turnovers.
Offensively, the Hawks shot 53 percent from field and were 3-of-5 from the three-point line (60 percent).
SGSC travels to Southern Crescent Tech and Albany Tech before returning home Feb. 21 to face Georgia Highlands. Please note the tip for the Feb. 21 game is set for 6 p.m.
The SGSC athletic department has announced a change in ticket pricing for home basketball games. All regular season home games are now $7 with children five and under admitted free.
