Hawks Basketball Beats South Georgia Tech To Win Third Straight
Posted on Jan 23, 2018
The South Georgia State College Hawks held South Georgia Tech to 24 points in the second half Saturday afternoon to defeat the Jets 65-58. It was the third straight win for the Hawks (14-5, 3-2), who stayed in the middle of the GCAA conference race.
The Hawks were led by Nate Louis’s 13 points and five assists and another complete game from Tracy Hector (12 points, four rebounds, six assists, six steals, and one block). Dwayne Wilson finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Sheldon Hendrix had nine points and eight assists.
Head coach Cory Baldwin was proud of how his team played considering one player was down with the flu and others had just returned after their own battles with the illness.
“This was a very tough and physical game,” he said. “We were without Keyshaun (Street) due to the flu, and some guys were just getting back from having had it. We definitely battled physically and mentally.”
The Hawks are now one of five teams in the GCAA with two conference losses behind Georgia Highlands (3-1). One of those two-loss teams will come to Waycross next Saturday as the Hawks battle Albany Tech at 4 p.m.
General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
