Posted on Dec 19, 2016
It took another late first half scoring run to break the game open and give the South Georgia State College Hawks their fourth straight win Monday night, defeating the Faith Baptist Crusaders 101-80.
Leading 27-23 with 6:00 remaining in the first half, the Hawks (11-2) outscored the Crusaders 25-9 to take a 20-point halftime lead and grew their lead to as many as 24 points in the second half.
Four players finished in double digits for the Hawks, led by Zaquavian Smith’s 23 points. O’Showen Williams had 21 points, while Shaquille Williams finished with 15 points – all three-pointers. Jordan Young rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.
“Our scoring came in bunches tonight,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “Qua (Smith) scored most of his points in the first half, and O’Showen (Williams) had a big second half.”
The Hawks will now enjoy the Christmas break before returning home Wednesday, Jan. 4 against Faith Baptist Post Graduate. Tip for the game is set for 7 p.m. The conference schedule begins Saturday, Jan. 7 at home against Atlanta Metro.
General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
