Evans signs with Columbia International University
Posted on Aug 20, 2014
Kevin Evans, a member of South Georgia State College’s men’s basketball team, has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C.
Evans, a 6’2” redshirt sophomore from Savannah, Ga., played in 18 games during the 2013-2014 season. He shot 42 percent from the field, which was second among SGSC’s guards.
“I’m proud of Kevin. He overcame a lot of injuries to reach his dream of playing four-year college basketball,” said head coach Cory Baldwin. “Most guys would have quit. Kevin didn’t quit, which speaks volumes for his character.”
Evans said he is thankful he will be able to play at CIU now that he has recovered from his injuries.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to continue my education and to play ball at the four-year level,” Evans said. “I’m thankful I have a great family that has always supported me as well as my coaches and teammates at SGSC.”
Evans is the fifth player from last season’s team to sign with a four-year college or university. A total of 36 players have signed letters of intent to play at the next level since the basketball program began in 2009.
