Coffee Regional Medical Center and South Georgia State College Foundation Update Scholarship Agreement to Expand Student Support

Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) and the South Georgia State College Foundation have entered into an updated Gift Acceptance Agreement that enhances the impact of a longstanding endowment established by the hospital to support South Georgia State College students.

The revised agreement updates the scholarship criteria for the existing endowment, ensuring that the fund continues to address the evolving needs of students while advancing the shared commitment of both organizations to higher education and workforce development in South Georgia.

Under the updated agreement, allocated gains and earnings from Coffee Regional Medical Center’s endowment will support:

Two annual scholarships of $5,000 each ($2,500 per semester) for students pursuing an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree.

Up to two scholarships to assist South Georgia State College students with on-campus living expenses, including housing, meal plans, and other related costs.

Recipients will be selected by the South Georgia State College Foundation in accordance with Foundation policies and the College’s non-discrimination standards.

“This updated agreement reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that the generosity of Coffee Regional Medical Center’s longstanding endowment continues to make the greatest possible impact for our students,” said Dr. Greg Tanner, President of South Georgia State College. “By refining the scholarship criteria, we are better positioned to support nursing students preparing to enter a critical profession while also helping students overcome financial barriers to completing their education.”

For decades, Coffee Regional Medical Center has invested in student success through its endowment with the South Georgia State College Foundation. The updated agreement aligns those resources with current student needs while continuing the hospital’s legacy of supporting education and strengthening the region’s healthcare workforce.

The agreement provides a framework for the continued administration of the scholarships while allowing the Foundation to adapt to future changes in policy or circumstances. Scholarship awards will continue to be made as funding becomes available under the Foundation’s spending policy.

Together, Coffee Regional Medical Center and the South Georgia State College Foundation remain committed to creating opportunities for student success, supporting future healthcare professionals, and strengthening the communities they serve throughout South Georgia.
