Jeff Savage served as the head softball coach at NCAA Division I Delaware State University for 13 seasons. Savage posted an overall record of 364-301-1, including a 169-54 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season games. He also led the team to four consecutive MEAC North titles from 2001 to '05, and won MEAC North crowns again in 2011 and 2012. Jeff Savage also has a MEAC championship to his list of achievements at Delaware State. Savage led the Hornets to a four game sweep to claim the first MEAC Softball title and NCAA Softball appearance in 2008. For that accomplishment he was named MEAC Coach of the Year. The Hornets were eliminated by The University of Texas 3-2 in the NCAA Softball Regionals. His tenure at DSU was noted by success on the field and in the classroom.  Quality wins over Virginia, Pittsburgh, Temple, Georgetown, and Appalachian State were some of the on field highlights. A 10th place finish in team GPA in all of DI softball in 2006 highlights many of his team’s academic successes.

Savage is an experienced clinician, having done lessons, camps, and clinics for over 30 years, in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Maryland and Ohio. In September Savage will be inducted into the Delaware State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Savage joined the DSU staff after serving as head softball coach at Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware in 1998 and '99.

In addition to his coaching success, Savage made his mark in the state for his work on behalf of such organizations as the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware and Delaware Special Olympics.

After leaving Delaware State in 2012, Savage spent 2 ½ years as Director of Athletics at Dover High School in Dover, Delaware, before retiring in November of 2014 to move to North Carolina where he spent 1 year as Athletic Director at Wilkes Central High School. Jeff and his wife Cindy have two children Sean and Janice, and 2 grandchildren Colton and Jada.
